    Farewell and Good Luck

In June, we will be saying Good-bye to our long time client and friend, Leo McGowan. Leo has been training with us since November of 2005. In that time, she has lost 17lbs and over 10% bodyfat! When she first began with us, running wasn't even in her thoughts. Now, Leo is running 5K's in 32 minutes. Her accomplishments have been inspiring. We are very proud of Leo's hard work since we have known her. Leo has referred many of her friends and gotten to know many of the other clients here at Body Works. She will be sorely missed. Best of Luck to you, Leo. We wil miss you!

    Upcoming Events and Announcements!!

It is going to be an exciting summer at Body Works. We are finishing up our latest "Biggest Loser" contest and will be announcing the winner in the June newsletter. Good luck to all who participated.

We would like you to join us in welcoming two to additions to Body Works Personal Training. Blake Underhill and Manny Malig have become the two newest members of our training staff. Feel free to visit our website: www.BodyWorksPersonalTraining.com to read a little more about each of them.

We will be having another referral contest starting June 1st. Referrals to your trainer are the ultimate compliment. This shows your trainer that you put your trust in them by passing their name on to your friends and/or relatives. Body Works will be holding a contest to show you our thanks for your referrals. Details will follow. Be sure to ask your trainer for rules and other information.

June is also going to bring about group fitness classes. These classes will include kickboxing, boot camp, and other exciting classes! The classes will be approximately one hour and will be $15 per class. Classes must be paid in advance. Times and locations will be announced prior to the beginning of each week. Ask your trainer for more details!

Travel Fitness: A Plan of Action to Keep You Active

It is easy to let a vacation or business trip destroy your fitness schedule and eating habits, but why let something as rewarding as a vacation or as exciting as a business trip leave you feeling unhealthy upon return?

With a little research and proper planning, you can create an easy-to-follow plan to keep you fit and healthy no matter where you travel, and you can come home feeling more healthy and energized then when you left.

There is no excuse for not finding places to exercise when every city has a great staircase, stadium, or tall buildings where you can master the stairs without a machine. If stairs aren't your thing, cities have lots of places good for walking, running or even hiking. Ask the hotel concierge if there are parks or trails nearby; or if you have ventured to the mountains, ask for a map of local hiking trails. It is also a good idea to ask the concierge for a map of the city to find out how many of your destinations are reachable by foot. (Walking will increase your fitness and decrease your taxi fares.) Prior to departure on your trip, find out if your hotel has a workout facility and a pool, and remember to pack your bathing suit and workout clothes. If they don't have a facility, they may be affiliated with a local gym where you can get a one-day pass for a small fee.

If your hotel doesn't offer fitness accommodations, bring along a jump rope and an exercise tube. They are both lightweight and easy to transport. Jumping rope is one of the best forms of cardiovascular exercise, and you can do it anywhere. And, of course, body-weight exercises such as push-ups and crunches require no equipment at all. The point is to find a workout routine that suits your needs and follow it. Plan a specific time each day or every other day to do your strengthening and cardiovascular routines (a good plan is to alternate days between the two). Be sure to enjoy yourself and make the most of the area to which you have traveled. Remember to bring comfortable shoes so that you can easily get a workout while using your feet as your main mode of transportation. Whether your trip is for business or vacation, remember that you should have some time for yourself every day. Why not dedicate that time to improving your health and making yourself feel better?

    WHAT CLIENTS ARE SAYING

I have been with Body Works for about six months and every month I have had positive results toward my goal. You might think, "Why are you still with them?" Or "Can't you do this on your own?" For me, Body Works, provides a positive, motivating, and energetic atmosphere, where I feel I can reach my goals of physical fitness. They listen, encourage... okay push me. They make me feel I can do better.
